Everyone A Winners in Quran Competitions

"I always tell contestants, either reciters or memorizers, that they should not worry about the results because in a Quranic contest we do not have a loser but everyone is a winner,” Taha Abdul Wahab, who serves as a member of the panel of judges at Iran’s 34th International Holy Quran Competition, told IQNA.

The competition got underway in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Thursday.

Over 270 Quran reciters and memorizers from 83 countries are attending the international Quranic event.

Abdul Wahab, who assesses performances in the area of Sawt and Lahn, urged the contenders to stop worrying about the outcome and just focus on doing their best.

He noted that those who performed their recitation on the first day seemed to have been a little stressed and that prevented them from showcasing their best performance.

Elsewhere, the Egyptian Quranic figure described the contests, which is underway with the motto of "One Book, One Ummah (nation”, as a unique gathering of Islamic unity.

He added that Quran competitions in general play a role in enhancing unity among Muslim nations.

Abdul Wahab is a prominent Qari and also holds a PhD in Quranic sciences from the College of Quranic Studies in Beirut.

The 34th International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) until Wednesday.
