Quran Competition Planned in Iraqi Holy City of Karbala

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 11th edition of a national Quran memorization and recitation competition in Iraq will be organized on the occasion of Eid al-Mab’ath (call to prophethood), which falls on Tusday.

Quran Competition On Mab’ath Planned in Iraq


According to Qaaf news agency, the "Imam Hassan Mujtaba (AS)” town for pilgrims in the holy city of Karbala will host the national Quranic event.

The "Shaheed-I Mihrab” Institute will hold the competition on April 25.

The Islamic Affairs section of the institute has already organized the preliminary stage of the competition in different provinces of Iraq.

The Quranic institute has 56 branches all over the country. They hold various Quranic courses and have managed to train a large number of Quran memorizers and reciters.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
