Sudanese Memorizer Hails Fair Judgements in Iran Int’l Quran Contest

Muhammad Abdullah Adam, who came third in the memorization category, told IQNA that the judgements of the panel of judges were fair and balanced.

He said it was his first participation in an international Quranic event.

"I started learning the Quran by heart at 16 and managed to memorize the entire Holy Book in two years,” the 26-year-old said.

He said the contenders were very good and qualified memorizers some of whom had the experience of participation in previous international Quranic events.

"I expected to win the second or third rank,” he added.

Adam further thanked the organizers of the competition and said he would convey to his fellow countrymen the fact that Iranian people and officials pay special attention to Quranic activities.

He also said the motto of the competition, namely "One Book, One Ummah (nation)” demonstrated the importance Iran attaches to unity in Islamic Ummah.

The competition was just one of five international Quran contests held in Iran this week.

A total of 276 Quran memorizers and reciters from 83 countries took part in the five Quranic events.

The other four were international Quran contests for women, the visually-impaired, school students and seminary students.
