TEHRAN (IQNA) – Renowned Egyptian footballer Hosny Abd Rabo has founded a mosque in his hometown and organizes Quran competitions there every year.

Hosny, who is from the city of Abu Sarir in Ismailia governorate, northeast of Egypt, founded the Nurullah Mosque in the city a few years ago.

He annually holds the contests in the mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.

The participants compete in the categories of memorization of the entire Quran, three-fourths of the Quran, half of the Quran and a quarter of the Quran.

Winners receive cash prizes and an Umrah Hajj package.

Hosny currently plays as a defensive midfielder for Ismaily SC.

He is also an integral member of the Egypt national football team and was a member of the 2008 African Nations Cup winning team, as well as being chosen as Player of the Tournament.
