TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Awqaf and Religious Affairs Commission called for increasing the budget for holding Quran contests in the country.

According to Bawaba website, the commission held a meeting with representatives of the Awqaf Ministry on Monday.

The members of the commission urged that the funds allocated for organizing Quranic events should be increased.

They also said that more funds should be allocated for running mosques.

Egypt is an Arab country in North Africa where Quranic activities are very popular.

It is known in the Muslim world as a country where some of the best Quran reciters have emerged in recent decades.

They include prominent Qaris like Abdul Basit Abdus Samad, Mohammed Siddiq Al-Minshawi, Shahat Mohamed Anwar, and Mustafa Esmail.
