Iran, Turkey to Hold Talks on Islamic Proximity

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Ways for enhancing Islamic proximity will be discussed in meetings in Ankara between Iranian and Turkish officials next week.

The meetings, slated for July 3-5, will be attended by Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, according to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).

He will head a delegation to Ankara on Monday, Hassan Safarkhani, Iran’s Cultural Attache in Turkey said.

Safarkhani noted that the meetings will feature discussions on how to boost dialogue among Iranian and Turkish Muslim scholars and thinkers and joint efforts for bringing Islamic schools of thought closer together.

The delegation will also visit cultural and academic centers and institutions in Ankara and Istanbul, he went on to say.

The WFPIST is an institution whose main goal is promoting unity and proximity among world Muslims from all Islamic schools of thought.
