Sayed Musaad, the deputy head of the Awqaf Department in Cairo, made the remarks in a ceremony held Tuesday to award the winners of a Quran competition.
The competition was organized in the holy month of Ramadan for top Quran memorizers of the city’s non-governmental Quranic institutes.
Musaad added that when parents strive to teach the Quran to children, they prepare them for standing up to violence and extremism.
He underlined that the Holy Quran teaches how to live and contemplating its teachings with the aim of establishing security and peace in society is necessary.
Every year during Ramadan, various Quranic programs, including Quran competitions, are held in Muslim countries and Islamic communities around the world.
