Quranic Courses for Iraqi Journalists

Muayyid al-Lami and a number of the association members recently paid a visit to the media center of the Dar-ol-Quran center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine in Karbala.

In a meeting with head of the center Sheikh Safa al-Silawi during the visit, al-Lami said the association is keen for Quranic courses to be held for journalists at the Dar-ol-Quran center.

He also praised the Quranic activities of the center that are provided to everyone regardless of religious affiliation.

Al-Silawi in the meeting underlined the center’s activities both in Iraq and abroad.

He said it holds Quranic programs in different countries, including those in Indonesia and Singapore during the holy month of Ramadan.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
