The Quran Education Department of the Dar-ol-Quran Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Ali (AS) holy shrine has organized the Quranic program.

Sayyed Sattar Habl al-Matin, the head of the department, said the course will last one month and include a series of lectures by Quran masters, quran.imamali.net reported.

It features the principles of Quran recitation and the Quranic orthography, he said.

According to al-Matin, those who succeed in passing the final exam will be allowed to take part in more advanced Quranic courses.

He said the courses are aimed at training Quran instructors in Najaf, especially among the youths.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
