Winners of Syria’s Nat’l Quran Competition Awarded

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Top participants in the 18th edition of Syria's national competition on memorization and interpretation of Quran and Nabawi Hadiths were awarded in a ceremony in Aleppo.

According to Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the closing ceremony of the competition was held at Abdullah ibn Abbas Grand mosque of the city on September 10.

The Arab country’s Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) organized the final stage of the competition at "Zeyn-ol-‘Abedin” Grand Mosque of Aleppo on September 9 and 10.

Screening a documentary film about the competition and religious choral singings were among the programs of the ceremony, in which three top participants in each category were awarded.

The program was attended by head of Aleppo’s city council, Mufti of the region, and officials from the Ministry of Endowments.

An exhibition of Arabic calligraphy as well as a religious book fair were also held on the sidelines of the ceremony.

128 Quran students from "Al-Asad” Quran teaching institutes participated in the 18th edition of the national competition.

The students competed on memorization of the entire Quran, memorization of 20 and 10 Juzes (parts) with interpretation, and Quran recitation with interpretation of the verses.
