TEHRAN (IQNA) – Courts in Bahrain sentenced 6 citizens to prison on political charges.

Manama Regime Sentences 6 Bahrainis to Jail

According to Shafaqna, the six citizens, including three sisters, have been sentenced to three years in jail.

The three sisters, Amal, Aiman and Fatima, have received jail terms for their opposition to the ruling regime.

They had been arrested by security forces in al-Diraz region, in June.

On Wednesday night, Bahrainis took to the streets in several areas of the Persian Gulf kingdom to vent their anger at the rulings handed down to dissents.

Demonstrators staged rallies in several villages in the suburbs of the capital Manama, shouting anti-regime slogans and denouncing the recent rulings.

In some areas police clashed with protesters and used tear gas to disperse them.

Manama has gone to great lengths to clamp down on any sign of dissent. On March 14, 2011, troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were deployed to assist Bahrain in its crackdown.

Scores of people have lost their lives and hundreds of others sustained injuries or got arrested as a result of the Al Khalifa regime’s crackdown.
