TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 11th edition of the annual Quran competition organized by the Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran center concluded on Thursday.

The final round of the contest had been underway in the holy city of Qom, 150km south of Tehran, since Saturday, February 17.

Some 4,000 Quran activists from different parts of the country took part in different stages of the Quranic event.

They competed in various categories in two age groups of 16 years and below, and older than 16.

While the closing ceremony is going to be held on Friday, the winners of the competition have already been announced by the panel of judges.

Senior Iranian cleric Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi is expected to attend the closing ceremony, in which the winners will be awarded.  

The center holds the competition every year with the aim of promoting Quranic activities in the society.
