Nigeria’s Nat’l Quran Recitation Competition Begins in Katsina

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 32nd edition of the National Quranic Recitation Competition of Nigeria kicked off in the African country’s Katsina State on Friday, with 256 participants taking part from 32 states and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The competition ends on March 3, 2018.

The chairman of the local organising committee, Justice Musa Abubakar, confirmed this to journalists in Katsina, adding that participants had already arrived the city for the competition.

According to him, prizes to be won include Hajj seats, tricycles, motorcycles, and cash.

Justice Abubakar however said the essence of the competition was to inculcate the culture of Quranic reading in people and promote Islam.

He said the various sub committees, including those on security, accommodation, feeding and logistics, have already been set up to ensure a hitch-free competition.
