50 Countries to Partake in Egypt Int’l Quran Competition

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Representatives of 50 countries will vie for the top prizes in the 25th edition of the international Quran competition of Egypt.

  

This is according to the Arab country’s Awqaf Minister, Mohammad Mukhtar Goma, speaking at a press conference about the contest.

He noted that the international Quranic event is slated to kick off on Saturday, March 24.

Goma said the participants will compete in four categories, including memorization of the entire Quran.

He added that a Quran competition for people with physical handicaps is scheduled to be organized on the sidelines of the main contest.

Elsewhere, the minister highlighted his country’s efforts to promote Quranic teachings and said as many as 639 Quranic schools have been established in Egypt.

Organized with the motto of "Quds is Arab" in solidarity with the holy city of Quds (Jerusalem), the competition will run until March 29.
