7th Int’l Quran Contest for Students to Be Held in a Country Other Than Iran
Rahim Khaki told IQNA that Iran has hosted all editions of the international Quranic event, including the sixth one that is underway in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad until Sunday.
He said since the fourth edition, there have been efforts to hold the competition in other countries, hoping that it will be made possible for the seventh edition.
The Iranian Quran expert also hoped that the next edition will include a Quran contest for female university students from all over the Muslim world as well.
He further referred to the quality of the performances in this edition and said the level of the contenders is much higher than those taking part in the previous competitions.
Khaki also hailed the presence of a number of top Quran experts from other countries in the panel of judges.
He went on to thank the organizers of the competition and those who have contributed to holding the event, especially the Iranian Academics’ Quranic Activities Organization, the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR), Astan-e Quds Razavi, Mashhad Municipality and Awqaf and Charity Affairs Department of the Khorasan Razavi province.
The final stage of the international Quranic event’s sixth edition got underway in Mashhad on Friday.
A total of 44 contenders, 19 Qaris and 25 memorizers, are taking part in the final round.
The contestants are from 35 countries in three continents, namely Asia, Africa and Europe.
The ten-strong panel of judges comprises six Iranian Quran experts and four from other countries.
Winners will be announced at the closing ceremony on Sunday.
