Iran’s Qari, Memorizer among Favorites to Win Int’l Quran Contest for Muslim Students

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s representatives in the 6th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students went on the stage to answer questions raised by the panel of judges on Saturday, the second day of the contest.

 

Mojtaba Fardfani and Mehdi Gholamnejad are competing for Iran in the categories of memorization of the entire Quran and recitation respectively.

They both had a good performance and are among the favorites to win top ranks in their respective categories.

Saturday saw a total of 27 Qaris and memorizers from different countries showcasing their Quranic talents on the stage.

A number of officials were present at the venue of the competition both in the morning and afternoon on Saturday.

The second day’s programs concluded with a recitation of verses from the Quran by prominent Iranian reciter Hamid Shakernejad as an honorary Qari.

The final stage of the international Quranic event’s sixth edition got underway in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast Iran, on Friday.

44 Quran activists, 19 Qaris and 25 memorizers, are taking part in the final round.

The contestants are from 35 countries in three continents, namely Asia, Africa and Europe.

The competition will wrap up with the awarding ceremony on Sunday.
