TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 4th edition of a Quran contest for youths and athletes will be held in Iran in three stages.

Seyed Abdol Hamid Ahmadi, cultural deputy of the Iranian Ministry of Sports and Youth, told IQNA that it will organized at the local, provincial and national levels.

He expressed hope for the extensive participation of youths and athletes in the contest.

According to the official, it will include different categories such as Quran recitation, memorization and Quranic concepts.

The northwestern city of Tabriz, named the capital of Islamic world tourism in 2018, will host the national stage of the competition sometime in fall, Ahmadi said.

He noted that by holding the Quran contest, the ministry aims to develop Quranic activities and promote a style of life based on the Quranic teachings among youths and athletes.

Ahmadi went on to say that the organizers will benefit from the experiences of the Iranian Academics’ Quranic Activities Organization (IAQAO) that recently held the 6th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students.

He hailed the IAQAO’s success to organize the event with the participation of university students from 87 countries in three stages.

The final stage of the 6th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students was held in Mashhad last week.

The participants competed in the categories of memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran.
