KUALA LUMPUR (IQNA) – The Iranian cultural attaché in Malaysia said Quranic cooperation can be one of the best kinds of cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking during a visit to the big Quran printing complex in Kuala Lumpur, Ali Mohammad Sabeqi said such cooperation can help to mitigate sectarian differences.

He was accompanied in the visit by an Iranian delegation that is in Malaysia for the 60th edition of the country’s international Quran contest.

Noting that the officials of the printing complex, named Nasyrul Quran, are willing to develop cooperation with Iran, Sabeqi said he has suggested that it can collaborate with Iran’s Astan Quds Razavi in printing copies of the Quran.

The complex in Kuala Lumpur is the world’s second largest Quran printing complex after one in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, he noted.

The Iranian cultural attaché added that its activities also include training Quran calligraphers and conducting research in Quranic fields.

It was launched by the then Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak in 2017, he said.

As for the Malaysia international Quran contest, Sabeqi said it is the oldest international Quranic event in the world.

He said Malaysia’s government and people attach great significance to the competition.

According to Sabeqi, since the Southeast Asian country’s parliamentary elections were underway earlier this week, the number of audience in the competition was not high at first but during the final days, people attended the competition hall in large numbers.

The international Quran contest concluded in a ceremony on Saturday night.

Iran’s representative Mokhtar Dehqan came second in the category of recitation in the men section.

Quran memorizers and Qaris from 56 countries took part in the competition this year.
