TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Muslim woman in Mechanicsville, US state of Virginia, has filed suit against a nursing home she used to work for, claiming her bosses had ordered her to remove her hijab.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that the suit was filed in federal court in Virginia. It claims that Keseanda Brooks was forced to choose between her job and her faith.

Brooks had worked at Hanover Health & Rehabilitation Center in Mechanicsville. The incident involving her religious head covering allegedly occurred in January 2017.

Brooks says her bosses were concerned the garment could be grabbed or pulled and said she would have to remove it or be fired.

The owner of the center, Medical Facilities of America, disputed Brooks' allegations in a statement, according to AP. It said she was later told she could wear the garment.
