TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Iranian Cultural Center in Manila, the Philippines, gifted a precious calligraphy work to Archbishop of Manila Luis Antonio Gokim Tagle.

The work, by prominent Iranian calligrapher Tandis Taghavi, features verse 45 of Surah Al-e Omran- “(And remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah).”

The Archbishop of Manila received it in a ceremony held Saturday on the sidelines of a calligraphy exhibition in the city.

In a message earlier this week, the Philippines’ Catholic bishops appreciated Iran’s move to hold the calligraphy exhibition in Manilla during a meeting of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

“The Philippines Bishops are glad that the Iranian people, through the Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Manila, are setting up a calligraphy exhibition of interreligious dialogue on the occasion of the 117th Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP),” it said in the message.
