Quran Activist Assassinated in Aden

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran activist was assassinated by unknown gunmen in Aden, Yemen.

  

According to Al-Jazeera, Sheikh Muhammad Ragheb, director of the Quran memorization center of the education department in Maala district of Aden, was shot dead on Saturday.

A number of armed individuals opened fire at him when Ragheb, who also leads prayers at the Abdullah Azam Mosque, left the mosque.

The armed men fled immediately after the assassination and Ragheb died of his wounds.

He is the 36th prayer leader assassinated in Aden since mid-2015.

Aden is currently under the control of Saudi and Emirati-backed forces loyal to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
