Rafei al-Ameri, director of the National Quranic Sciences Center affiliated to Iraq’s Shia Awqaf Department, told IQNA that the course concluded in a ceremony on Thursday.
He said those taking the course received lessons on the principles of Tajweed, Waqf and Ibtida based on internationally recognized regulations.
He added that those who successfully passed the course’s exam were given certificates of attendance.
The ceremony also included Quran recitation by a prominent Qariyah (woman Quran reciter) and eulogy recitation in praise of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) by Hajj Ali Abdul Sattar on the occasion of birthday anniversary of Imam Reza (AS).
Al-Ameri underlined the importance of such courses in enhancing the Quranic skills of women Quran experts and acquainting them with refereeing regulations.
He went on to say that similar courses are planned to be held for men as well.
Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
