Moukebs are resting places with special facilities and services for pilgrims set up on roads leading to Karbala during the pilgrimage.

Mohammadi, a Quranic official with a committee set up to facilitate the Arbaeen pilgrimage, said 5,000 copies of the Quran printed in Iran have been prepared in cooperation with the Center for Publishing and Printing the Quran, affiliated with the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.

He was speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Monday to announce the Quranic programs of Arbaeen.

He said they will be given to the Moukebs that need the copies.

He also referred to dispatching a Quranic delegation known as the Noor (light) convoy to Iraq, saying that they will perform 300 Quranic programs for Arbaeen pilgrims.

Mohammadi went on to say that members of the convoy will also organize ten joint Quranic programs with Iraqi Qaris.

Arbaeen comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.

In the past few years, around 20 million pilgrims from all over the world took part in the mourning ceremonies in the Iraqi holy city marking Arbaeen.

Arbaeen falls on Tuesday, October 30, this year.
