Int’l Quran Contest for Women Kicks Off in UAE

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The third edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition kicked off on Sunday in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

 

Ibrahim Mohamed Bu Melha, adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for cultural and humanitarian affairs and head of the DIHQA organizing committee, said the competition would run until November 16.

Six contestants from Cameroon, Iraq, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines and Belgium participated on the opening day, KTimes reported. 

The competition is supported by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Bu Melha said the third edition of the competition would be seeing the participation of 63 countries and Muslim communities from around the world.

The contest is aired on various TV channels and streamed online.   

Iran’s representative in the competition is 12-year-old memorizer of the Quran Zahra Khalili.
