TEHRAN (IQNA) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underscored the need for remembering martyrs.

Speaking in a meeting with those in charge of holding a congress to commemorate the martyrs of Iran’s Qazvin province earlier this week, Ayatollah Khamenei said martyrs contributed to the Islamic country’s spiritual growth and move toward ideals.

Martyrs are role models for society, the Leader said, adding that thirty years after the end of the 1980s Iraqi-imposed war on Iran, the memory of the martyrs is getting more alive in society day after day.

If the spirit of martyrdom and Jihad spreads, inclination toward East and West and Kufr and atheism dwindles, Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say.

The Leader’s statements were released at the inauguration of the congress in Qazvin on Sunday.
