TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony was held at the International Quran News Agency (IQNA) in Tehran on Sunday to unveil a new Quran exegesis in Persian.

The Shams Exegesis of the Holy Quran by Hojat-ol-Islam Mostafa Boroujerdi has been published in ten volumes by the Boostan-e Ketab Publishing Institute.

Writing, editing and publishing the Quranic work took some 11 years.

A number of Quranic, religious, cultural and political officials, including Seyyed Mostafa Mohaghegh Damad, senior member of Iran’s Academy of Sciences, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, and Issa Alizadeh, cultural deputy of the Iranian Academic Center for Education, Culture, and Research (ACECR), were present at the function.

Addressing the ceremony, Araqchi, who has been a colleague of Boroujerdi at the foreign ministry for years, hailed the achievement of the cleric and described the interpretation as one with depth and written in a simple language.

He added that Boroujerdi’s experience at the foreign ministry has given him deep insight about the world community and international affairs, which he has used to enrich his work.

Also, a message from Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was read out at the ceremony, in which Zarif highlighted the significant role of the Quran in bringing 1.5 billion Muslims together.

He also congratulated Boroujerdi on the achievement after 11 years of work on the exegesis.

Boroujerdi is currently Iran’s ambassador to Tunisia and previously served as the country’s envoy to the Vatican and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
