TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran has named its representative in the under-12 category of Kuwait’s international Quran competition.

Mohammad Taqi Mirzajani, an official with the Committee for Inviting and Dispatching Quran Reciters, which is tasked with selecting Iran’s contenders in international Quranic events, told IQNA that Mohammad Yusef Darwishi has been named as Iran’s representative in the upcoming Quran contest in Kuwait.

He said Darwishi will compete in a new category added to the contest for those under the age of 12.

Earlier, Hamid Reza Moqaddasi and Reza Golshahi had been introduced as the country’s representative in the recitation and memorization categories of Kuwait’s competition, he noted.

According to Mirzajani, 11-year-old Mohammad Yusef Darwishi is from the province of Qazvin.

Darwishi is a memorizer of the entire Quran and has been selected from among a 30-strong group of under-12 Quran memorizers, he went on to say.
