TEHRAN (IQNA) – Some 3,000 new students registered at Quran schools in Algeria’s Tissemsilt province last year.

According to al-Masa news website, the province’s Awqaf Department announced that the number of those signing up for receiving Quranic education at Quranic schools and centers in the province reached 3,000 in 2018.

It added that it showed a significant increase compared to a year earlier.

In 2017, the number of new students stood at nearly 2,000, it noted.

The department said one of the factors that led to the rising number of students was inauguration of 15 new Quran schools in the province in 2018.

It went on to say that more than 9,000 students are currently studying at 138 Quran schools in Tissemsilt.

Tissemsilt is the 38th province of Algeria and is located in the north of the country. Its capital is the city of Tissemsilt.
