TEHRAN (IQNA) – In Islam, there is no difference between men and women in development of their abilities, an Iranian official said.

 

Zeynab Hamidzadeh, advisor to the Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology, made the remark at the opening of the 5th gathering of Science and Technology Exchange Program (STEP) in Islamic countries.

The meeting got underway at the University of Karachi, Pakistan, on Wednesday morning, according to Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation (MSTF).

Hamidzadeh also referred to Iran’s efforts for empowerment of women in different areas, saying that the country seeks to promote the share of women in the field of knowledge-based economy.

She further hailed the MSTF for organizing the STEP meetings to set the ground for enhancing cooperation among Muslim scholars and scientists.

Organizers of the STEP5 as well as Islamic world health officials and scholars gave speeches at the inauguration ceremony, stressing the significance of the development of scientific activities at the national and international levels to benefit human societies.

The Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research at the University of Karachi is hosting the meeting, which will run until Saturday.
