Gorgan to Host Quran Competition for Sunni Clerics
TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 6th Quran competition for Iran’s Sunni clerics and seminary students will kick off in a ceremony in the northern city of Gorgan on Sunday.
The opening ceremony will begin with the recitation of verses from the Quran by prominent Sunni Qari Akhund Saadi.
It will be followed by a number of speeches, including one in which the objectives of the contest will be explained.
Sunni clerics and seminarians from different parts of the country will be attending the contest.
Also in the opening ceremony, late Akhund Abedikar, translator of the Quran into the Turkmen language, will be commemorated.
