TEHRAN (IQNA) – Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement strongly condemned Friday’s terror attack on two mosques in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand.

In a statement on Friday, Hezbollah called on New Zealand to bring the perpetrators of the horrific act of terrorism to justice and take necessary measures to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

It also warned against a growing trend of Islamophobia and hate crimes against Muslims and foreigners in the West that has been exacerbated by US policies, slamming Washington for spreading hate against religions instead of promoting tolerance and dialogue.

Hezbollah further expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs and prayed for quick recovery of those injured in the attack.

At least one gunman killed 49 people and wounded more than 40 during Friday prayers at two New Zealand mosques in the country’s worst ever mass shooting, which Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern condemned as terrorism.
