Malaysia Int’l Quran Contest: Winners Awarded
Winners of different categories were announced and awarded at the ceremony, held in Kuala Lumpur with senior officials and guests in attendance.
According to the panel of judges, Abdul Khair bin Jalil from the host country bagged the top prize in the recitation category in the men’s section.
The Qaris from Algeria and Morocco came second and third respectively.
Iran’s representative Hadi Movahed Amin won no better place than the fourth rank.
In memorization of the entire Quran, Mohammad Abdi from Sweden was the top winner. The runner-up was Mohammad Marouf Hussain from Canada and the third rank went to Haitham Safar Ahmad from Kenya.
In the women’s section, too, Malaysia’s Qariah, Nur Farahtul Firuza Panut, won the top prize in recitation. Asiya Othman Jibril Mohamed from Nigeria came first in memorization.
Known as Majlis Tilawah Al-Quran, the 61st edition of Malaysia’s international Quran competition was held in the Southeast Asian country’s capital from April 16 to 20 with the participation of 107 Qaris and Quran memorizers from 71 countries.
