300 Mosques to Be Opened in Egypt in Ramadan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Awqaf Minister of Egypt said 300 mosques will be launched in different parts of the country in a week.

 

According to aldeerah news website, Mohammed Mokhtar Goma opened the great Mosque of Ahmad Urabi in his hometown of Hirriyat Razna near Zagazig in Sharqia Governorate.

Sa’eed Abd-ul-Mu’ti, advisor to the Sharqia governor, and Sheikh Zakariya Al-Khatib, deputy of Egypt’s Awqaf Ministry were also present at the opening ceremony of the mosque.

Sheikh mohammad Al-Awzi, member of Egypt’s Committee of Mosque Construction said in the program that the reconstruction of ‘Urabi Mosque on a 1200 sq. meter site cost more than 15 million pounds.

Also addressing the ceremony, the Egyptian minister announced that some 300 mosques will be opened in the early days of the holy month of Ramadan.

He added that opening so many mosques in one week is perhaps unprecedented in the history of Egypt and the world.
