In a post on his Twitter account, Faisal al-Dowiasan likened the Leader’s reaction to that of Imam Hussein (AS) when the Imam received a message from Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad.
Al-Dowiasan noted that Imam Hussein (AS) told Omar Saad who had brought the message that he has “no response” for him (Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad).
“Today, history was repeated itself,” the former parliamentarian wrote. “(Ayatollah) Khamenei said he does not have a response for him (Trump).”
Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad was the Umayyad governor of Basra, Kufa and Khorasan during the reigns of Mu'awiya and Yazid and one of the main elements behind the tragedy of Karbala in 680 AD.
On Thursday, Ayatollah Khamenei told visiting Japanese prime minister that he does not consider Trump “worthy” of exchanging messages with.
“We have no doubt in your good will and seriousness but regarding what you said the US president told you, I don't consider Trump as a person worthy of exchanging messages with,” the Leader told Shinzo Abe.
“I have no response for him and will not answer him,” he added.
Iran “has no trust in America and will not in any way repeat the bitter experience of the previous negotiations with America,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in comments published by his official website.
A former Kuwaiti cabinet minister also praised Ayatollah Khamenei.
Ahmad Abdulmohsen al-Melaifi, who was Kuwait’s Justice minister from 2011 to 2014, tweeted that the Iranian nation should be proud of their leader for treating Trump’s message like that.
