14 women with accomplishments in Quranic fields will be honored in the congress, which is underway at Tehran's Summit Conference Hall.
The opening ceremony was attended by Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi and the organization's women affairs adviser Masoumeh Farzaneh.
Also present at the ceremony were some 2000 women active in different Quranic fields.
The 14 women selected to be honored at the program are active in fields such as Quranic research, memorization, Quranic arts, education, and Quranic management.
The congress is annually held on the sidelines of the International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This year, the 31st edition of the competition is underway at Tehran's Summit Conference Hall until June 2.
