2.3 % of Quranic Budget Goes to Quran Competitions

-- 0.5 percent of government bodies’ budget has been allocated for Quranic activities, 2.3 percent of which is spent for Quranic competitions.

This is according to Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Jalal Yahyazadeh speaking to IQNA on the sidelines of the 33rd national Quran contest organized by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization in Yazd.
He said the funds allocated for Quran competitions ought to rise. “Such events help to promote people’s acquaintance with Book of God,” he underlined.
He referred to the special attention paid by the Majlis (Islamic Consultative Body) and the government to Quranic issues and said the two branches of power have made efforts to increase the country’s annual Quranic budget.
Hojat-ol-Islam Yahyazadeh, who represents Meybod in the Majlis, added that according to the annual budget bill presented to the Majlis by the government, 0.5 percent of government bodies’ funds will be allocated to Quranic activities.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said there are over 2400 Quranic institutes in the country, which are in need of government support.
33rd national Quran contest is underway in the central city of Yazd. It will conclude tomorrow, March 7.
