Significance of Quran Recitation Highlighted

-- Recitation of the Quran prepares man’s soul for acquiring the Quranic culture, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization said.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi was speaking last night, March 7, at the closing ceremony of the 33rd Awqaf national Quran competition held at Helal Ahmar Hall in the central city of Yazd.
He added that several verses of the Quran have recommended reading the Divine Book, which signifies its importance.
“The holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH), too, has urged Muslims to illuminate their homes with the light of Quran recitation,” he stated.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi stressed that thanks to the Islamic Revolution and the role of Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Supreme Leader, giant steps have been taken for promoting the Quranic culture.
He referred to the recent wave of Islamic awakening in the world and said people in the region have realized that they need to follow the teachings of the Quran as the cure for all ailments is in the Holy book.
Also speaking at the closing ceremony, which began with recitation of verses from the Quran by Abbas Hashemi, winner of the first rank in recitation category, was Hojat-ol-Islam Hatami director general of Yazd province’s Awqaf Department who gave a report on organizing the 33rd edition of the competition.
Later in the function, a statement by the jury panel was read out and then winners of titles in different categories were awarded.
The 33rd Awqaf national Quran competition was held in Yazd from March 5-7 with the participation of Quran reciters and memorizers from 31 provinces.
