Kujar Omar, the head of the organizing committee, said 120 Quran reciters and memorizers attended this year’s event on Friday.
According to the official, it featured memorization and recitation of the last four Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran.
He said the participants were from different parts of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
Those from the cities of Dahuk and Halabja made it to the final round and won the top prizes, he noted.
Omar said that the 12 top contenders in the two categories were awarded at the end of the festival.
