Quds Cause of 1.7bln World Muslims: Erdogan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is in New York for the 74th UN General Assembly, said Ankara will continue to back Palestinian cause.

Palestine is a “red line” for Turkey, he said in a meeting with representatives of the US Muslim community.        

The Turkish president underlined the need for protecting the rights of Palestinians and supporting the holy Jerusalem al-Quds, saying “No power, threat can prevent us from protecting the law of Palestine.”

He added that the cause of Jerusalem al-Quds “is not only the cause of a handful of Muslims in Palestine but the dignity of the 1.7-billion Islamic world.”        

“We believe that defending Quds is defending human values, peace and justice,” he went on to say.
