TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Mahmoud Heidari said the country is willing to deepen its ties with the European country’s Muslim community.

In a message to Husein Kavazovic, Heidari congratulated the senior cleric on being re-elected as Bosnia’s Grand Mufti (Reis ul-Ulema).

He wished Kavazovic more success in serving the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina and protecting the religious identity of the country’s Muslims.

The envoy also voiced Iran’s readiness to deepen ties with Bosnia’s Islamic community and develop cooperation between the two countries’ Islamic institutions.

Bosnian Islamic Community’s electoral body of 373 members reelected the incumbent Grand Mufti Husein Kavazovic for a second seven-year term, the Community's Assembly Speaker Sakib Softic said on Saturday.

He won a total of 291 votes while Muamer Zukorlic won 82 votes.
