Quran Competition Planned for Iraq’s Armed Forces

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The third edition of a Quran competition for Iraq’s al-Hashd al-Shaabi (the Popular Mobilization Forces) will be held on November 15.

 

According to Qaaf news agency, the Holy Quran Section of the Religious Office of the Iraqi forces will organize the competition on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Titled “Rasul A’dham” (great prophet), the competition will be held for Quran memorizers and reciters from among the members of Iraq’s Interior Ministry, Defense Ministry and the forces of Hashd al-Shaabi.

Quran recitation, memorization of the entire Quran, memorization of 10 and 5 Juzes (parts) and memorization of 1 Juz of the Quran will be the categories of the competition.  

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
