Iranian Health Ministry Quranic Contests Begin in Hamedan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final stage of the 24th edition of the Quran competitions of Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education got underway in a ceremony in the western city of Hamedan on Tuesday.  

 

A number of religious, political and Quranic officials attended the ceremony, which began with recitation of verses from the Quran by prominent Qari of the Hamedan province Mahdi Saed.

Next, Rashid Heidari Moqaddam, chancellor of Hamedan University of Medical Sciences, welcomed the participants and noted that more than 82,000 Health Ministry staff, medical university instructors and students had taken part in the preliminary round of the competitions.

He said some 1,000 have made it to the final round in different categories.

According to Heidari Moqaddam, the contests have been held in 44 categories.

More than 380 winners are expected to be awarded at the closing ceremony.
