500,000 Moroccans Memorizing Quran at Traditional Centers
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Nearly half a million men and women in Morocco are memorizing the Quran in traditional Quran schools, an official said.
Speaking at a ceremony held to mark the birthday of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Moroccan Awqaf Minister Ahmed al-Tawfiq said the schools have been received very well in the country.
He noted that there are 14,000 active traditional Quran centers offering Quran memorization courses across the country.
Morocco, located in the Maghreb region of North Africa with a population of more than 33 million. Islam is the largest religion in Morocco, with roughly 99.9 percent of the population adhering to it.
