TEHRAN (IQNA) – The deadline for registration of physicians willing to serve in the next year’s Iran Hajj doctors delegation has been extended, an official said.

Mahmoud Reza Faqihi, deputy of the Iranian Red Crescent Society’s Medical Center for Hajj Pilgrims, said applicants can register by Monday.

He said 800 medical doctors from across the country has so far registered their names in the center’s website.

Last year 550 physicians and medical staff serve Iranian pilgrims in Hajj.

Next year’s Hajj will be held in July 2020.

Last week, senior Hajj officials of Iran and Saudi Arabia inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on next year’s Hajj pilgrimage.

Head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Ali Reza Rashidian and Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Muhammad Saleh bin Taher Benten signed the agreement in Riyadh after a round of negotiations on December 8.

Some 88,500 Iranians made the pilgrimage in 2019.
