Elites Quran Competition to Be Held in Iraq

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final stage of the 12th national Quran competition for Iraqi elite Quran activists will be held from December 31 to January 3, 2020 in the city of Kadhimiya, north of Baghdad.

 

The National Center of Quranic Sciences affiliated to the Iraqi Shias Awqaf (Endowments) Office will organize the competition at the conference hall of the Astan (custodianship) of Kazimayn holy shrines.

Quran memorization and recitation are the categories of the competition, which will be held for men. The winners of the competition will represent Iraq at international Quran competitions in other countries.

Rafi’ Al-Ameri, director general of the center, told IQNA that the opening ceremony of the contest will be held on December 31 starting at 10 a.m. local time.

Quran recitation by Osama Al-Karbalayi, the top winner of the 11th edition of the competition in recitation category, speeches by representatives of the center, the Awqaf office and the Astan of the Kazimayn holy shrines, screening a documentary, Tawasheeh performances by Al-Jawadayn group, and honoring the participants in last year’s Quran competition are different parts of the program.

He added that the closing ceremony of the competition will be held on January 3.
