TEHRAN (IQNA) – An official with Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement said the Iranian missile attack on US forces in response to American crimes and its stance afterward would be a major deterrent.

“What the Iranians said about the continuation of the response (to any further US provocation) is a major deterrence factor,” Mohammad Ali al-Houthi said in a post on his Twitter account.

“The American weapons and the Washington government that kill people in Yemen also kill in Iraq… the US warplanes that killed children, women, men, judges, physicians, aid workers, and others in Yemen, are the same ones that killed Soleimani and al-Muhandis,” he added, referring to Iranian commander General Qassem Soleimani and deputy commander of Iraq’s Hashd al-Shaabi (PMU) who were martyred in a US strike in Baghdad on Friday.

Iran attacked an American airbase in neighboring Iraq in retaliation for the US assassination of General Soleimani.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) targeted the US airbase of Ain al-Assad in Anbar province in western Iraq early on Wednesday.

“Tens of surface-to-surface missiles” were fired at the strategic airbase and the attack was later confirmed by the US officials.

The IRGC has called for a complete withdrawal of US troops from the Arab country, asserting that it would not differentiate between the US and Israel in retaliating against the assassination of the Iranian national hero.
