TEHRAN (IQNA) – The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) condemned the Zionist regime’s recent move against the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

On Saturday, Israeli occupation police banned Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, from entering the mosque for four months.

Yesterday, the Israeli police summoned and interrogated the Sheikh for at least four hours.

Prior to the interrogation, Sheikh Sabri said: “I have been praying at Al-Aqsa Mosque for 70 years and have been giving sermons for 47 years. It is not acceptable that I am prevented from entering it.”

Sheikh Sabri is also the head of the Islamic Supreme Commission (NGO) in Jerusalem.

The WFPIST in a statement condemned the move as violation of the sanctities of Al-Aqsa and Muslims, calling on Islamic nations, governments and organization to also denounce such violations.

It praised Sheikh Sabri as a great figure who does not retreat from his stances in the face of the Zionist regime, vowing to stand with him until the final victory of the cause of Palestine.
