TEHRAN (IQNA) –  Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and members of his cabinet visited the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini to renew allegiance with the ideals of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

They laid a wreath on the tomb of Imam Khomeini and recited prayers.

They also visited the tombs of martyrs of the Islamic Revolution in the Behesht Zahra Cemetery.

The visits came as Iranians are celebrating the 41st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

Every year, millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of the revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

The day of Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran marks the beginning of the Ten Days of Dawn, which culminates with the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 41 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
