All Places of Worship Reopen in Iran
Speaking at a video press conference on Sunday, Ali Reza Raeisian said the guidelines for reopening place of worship are for all religions.
The way for reopening mosques and other houses of worship are also the same, he added.
Iran on Saturday announced reopening all mosques in the country to allow worshippers in for daily prayers.
Worshippers are required to fully observe the health protocols and maintain the required distance.
In early May, mosques that had been closed to worshippers due to the coronavirus outbreak reopened in ‘white zones’ (low risk areas) of the country.
Iran closed mosques and other religious sites in March to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
Classified a pandemic by the World Health Organization, the new virus, a respiratory disease known as COVID-19, emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei Province late last year.
It has infected more than 6.2 million people and killed over 373,000 globally.
According to Iran’s Health Ministry, more than 119,000 patients in Iran have recovered from the disease so far.
