TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Health Ministry spokeswoman said no decision has been made yet on whether to hold Eid al-Adha prayer and Arafah Supplication in the country.

Speaking to IQNA, Sima Sadat Lari said meetings are being held with experts to come to a decision.

There are also protocols being developed on organizing such religious events while preventing the spread of COVID-19, she added.

She noted that there have been no vaccines or drugs to cure the coronavirus disease yet.

Since there is a higher likelihood for the coronavirus to spread in large gatherings, this year’s religious ceremonies will not be like those held in previous years, the spokeswoman stated.

Wearing mask and observing social distancing is necessary in such events, she stressed.

Lari expressed hope that the religious rituals of Eid al-Adha as well as mourning rituals in the months of Muharram and Safar would be held safely in a way that people’s health would be protected.
